The outstanding manifestation of welding technology progress is the development of the welding process from mechanization to automation, intelligence, and informatization. The application of intelligent welding robots is an important symbol of highly automated welding processes. Welding robots have broken through the traditional methods of welding automation, making small-scale automated production possible.
Welding robots are mostly fixed position arm type machinery, with two types: demonstration type and intelligent type.
Teaching type robot: Through teaching, it memorizes the welding trajectory and parameters, and strictly follows the teaching program to complete the welding of the product. With just one demonstration, the robot can accurately reproduce each step of the demonstration operation. This type of welding robot has a wide range of applications and is suitable for large-scale production. It is used on fixed workstations in assembly lines, and its main function is to demonstrate and reproduce, with poor adaptability to environmental changes. There is no place for small-scale production of large structures on construction sites.
Intelligent robot: It can automatically determine the starting point, spatial trajectory, and related parameters of the weld seam based on simple control instructions, and can automatically track the weld seam trajectory, adjust the welding torch posture, adjust welding parameters, and control welding quality according to actual situations. This is the most advanced welding robot with characteristics such as agility, lightness, and easy mobility, which can adapt to welding tasks of different structures and locations. Currently, its practical application is limited and it is still in the research and development stage.
Among welding robots, spot welding robots account for 50% to 60% and are composed of three main parts: the robot body, spot welding system, and control system. The robot body has 1-5 degrees of freedom, and the control system is divided into body control and welding control.
The welding system mainly includes: welding controller, welding tongs, water, electrical and other auxiliary parts (underwater welding)
