Tip: Correct Welding of Aluminum and the Methods and Techniques of Aluminum Welding

Aluminum alloy is widely used in various welded structural products due to its light weight, high strength, good corrosion resistance, non magnetism, good formability, and good low-temperature performance. By using aluminum alloy instead of steel plate material for welding, the structural weight can be reduced by more than 50%. Therefore, aluminum and aluminum alloys are not only widely used in aviation, aerospace, and electrical fields, but also increasingly used in the petrochemical industry.

Aluminum and aluminum alloys have the characteristics of strong thermal conductivity, large thermal capacity, large linear expansion coefficient, low melting point, and low high-temperature strength, making welding difficult. To maintain the quality of welding, it is necessary not only to have the correct welding method, but also to pay attention to some protective measures.

Tool material: Special aluminum wire feeding tool required: non-metallic lining tube, U-groove drive roller, inlet and outlet guide device, contact operation method 1 Load the welding wire to the welding machine, hold the welding wire shaft with one hand and do not loosen it. After unpacking the glass paper packaging, use the other hand to hold the loose end of the welding wire (put it into the drive roller and then release it) PS: Hold the loose end tightly, otherwise the entire bundle of welding wires will loosen.

Adjust the tightness of the welding wire brake. First, adjust the tightness to the lowest gear, and then install the welding wire to roll through the drive wheel. Ps: The tightness only ensures that the welding wire does not loosen, and cannot be too tight or too loose. If the welding wire roller moves and other components do not move, it is not tight enough; 3. Set the tightness of the driving roller. First, place the thread head at a small angle 1 inch from the surface of the insulation material; Afterwards, set the tension of the roller to almost minimum; Press the welding gun switch to see if the welding wire is sliding when it comes into contact with the surface of the insulation material; Starting from that point, adjust the tightness until the welding wire stops sliding. Ps: Be careful not to be too tight as the welding wire may break if it is too tight. Secondly, safety measures should be taken and welding gloves should be worn to avoid burns.

Special reminder and precautions: ensure good power connection; Do a good job of cleaning, use degreasing solvents to remove all grease; Ensure the dryness of the workpiece surface before welding; Do not approach combustible materials during welding; Use a clean stainless steel wire brush to remove the surface oxides of the clean aluminum material; When welding, the welding gun cable should be straight.

According to welding methods, aluminum welding methods can be roughly divided into three categories:

One type is non consumable argon arc welding, the second type is consumable argon arc welding, and the third type is low-temperature brazing.

1、 The methods and techniques of non consumable electrode argon arc welding are as follows: AC argon arc welding, secondary inverter output. At this time, it is necessary to master the adjustment of the machine, the selection and use of materials, and whether the power size matches the thickness of the aluminum plate is also crucial for argon arc welding of aluminum alloys.

2、 The method and usage skills of consumable electrode argon arc welding require the selection of a stable pulse power source. The wire feeder should be good at wire feeding, using graphite conduits and special conductive nozzles and conduits for aluminum welding. It is recommended to use 1.2 specifications of wire, as well as higher hardness aluminum welding wires such as 5356.

3、 The method and usage skills of low-temperature brazing require treating the surface oxide film, and the cleaner the treatment, the better. Choose brazing materials with lower melting points for welding, such as the relatively low temperature WEELDING53 low-temperature aluminum welding rod or 303 low-temperature aluminum welding rod.
