The principle of flash butt welding
The principle of flash butt welding is to use a welding machine to bring the metal ends into contact, pass a high current with a low voltage, and heat the metal to a certain temperature until it softens. Then, axial pressure is applied to forge the metal, forming a welded joint.
Before the two workpieces come into contact, they are clamped by two clamping electrodes and connected to a power source. Moving the movable clamp, the end faces of the two workpieces lightly touch, and then the power is applied to heat them. The contact point, heated to liquid metal, explodes, spraying sparks and creating flashes. Continuous movement of the movable clamp produces continuous flashes, heating both ends of the workpieces. Once a certain temperature is reached, the end faces of the two workpieces are pressed together, the welding power is cut off, and they are firmly welded together.
